Will they ever understand?

Hey everyone,

So I just checked out an article on Tech Crunch called: http://www.techcrunch.com/2006/10/29/payperpost-is-now-officially-absurd/
You should really see it--they call PayPerPost a virus that is now here to stay. I completely disagree--I think that people should have the option to post WHATEVER they want--be it ads for which they are compensated, i.e. paid blogging, or their own ridiculous musings that they think other people care about, or whatever. PayPerPost is supporting those people who are interested in making some money from their blog, which is certainly not a bad thing, and they are promoting business at the same time. In addition, once you have a PayPerPost account, it is not like you have to post specific ads that you don't agree with, and most ads even pay you to post BAD things about them--only some require that you are positive in your ad, and you don't have to chose those if you don't want to. In fact, all of advertising is positive--I mean, come on you guys, do you think the actors in commercials are really that passionate about the product they are promoting, or do they just do it because it's their job? All we are doing at PayPerPost is getting the word out about specific companies, and then it is the consumer's job to determine if they want to buy in or not--and really this is how it is everywhere. Consumers should be shrewd, and if they're not, they're going to get suckered in every form of media--blogs are not the only places were ads crop up, and whoever thinks that the blogosphere is going to remain a utopian atmosphere free of propaganda and advertisements is crazy. We are a marketing nation and this is how things evolve. I was happy to post my disclaimer, and I hope that others do the same.
