Phone Recordings

Hello There,

Every time I call my electric and gas company, I hear that my call will be recorded for quality assurance. But I cannot help but think that the Phone Recorder they use is actually for their protection, not mine. I mean, what if they think that I'm going to try to do something fradulent, for instance? (Not that I would, of course, but maybe other people would.)

At the same time, however, I guess the Phone Recorder could help me as well, like if I felt that the representative wasn't doing their job properly, or if I thought that I was being harassed. (At the same time, I head about angry customers who may sometimes be the harasser instead of the harassee.) So, I guess in general, phone recordings are a good thing, as long as the company continues to tell customers before it records calls. But what do you think? Are their features of a recorded phone conversation that I didn't touch on here? Do you think they should be outlawed? Alternatively, do you think that every company should record their calls for quality assurance purposes? Do you think that the company regularly reviews the calls, or do you think they are just saved in case their is a problem? I think the latter.

Looking forward to reading your comments on this topic.
